Hi,

For the last several projects, my method of cleaning my paint gun has been as follows....

- Rinse the cup with lacquer thinner and wipe it clean with a shop towel
- Run about about 1/4 of the cup full of lacquer thinner through the gun
- Wipe the gun down
- Take off the air cap and blow out the holes with compressed air and check that they are clear

... I never thought to remove the tip/needle and try to clean out the inside of the gun. I took the gun apart today and was surprised to see a coating of paint in there. I cleaned it out with laquer thinner the best I could but it still isn't perfect.

I guess the risk is that something in there comes loose and comes out of the gun. Now I understand why people have a separate gun for clear.

What do you guys do to clean your guns?

Thanks,
Sal

Any part that touches paint needs to be cleaned, not just rinsed
by running thinner through it.
Taking the fluid tip out and the needle is the most
important part.

I fully disassemble and clean My gun every time I use it when done spraying for the day.

~~~As 68 says there are threads on the subject but you can get it nice & clean again.
