I recently purchased a new Everlast 250EX analog Tig welder/ Stick machine
Image

From Everlast https://www.everlastgenerators.com/prod ... rtig-250ex

I have to say I am a Die hard Miller guy but dealing with the people at Everlast in San Francisco has been a pleasure and the machine works great! the price was just too good too pass up and the price has came down since my purchase!
The machine competes directly with my Miller dream machine the Miller Dynasty 250DX and I am sorry but I don't have $4-8 Grand or so to play with My Miller dream Dynasty machines so Im stuck with the Everlast which I am happy to say I am very tickled with! It has all the features bells and whistles of the Dynasty that I wanted at a fraction of the cost with a water cooler! and yes I know its an import but What can I say I make less now than I used to make even 5 years ago.

I got some extra consumables from another company I like to deal with WELDINGCITY.com for consumables.

Now I know not everyone has $1500 bucks laying around to play with new welders tig or mig But if any of you are looking at buying any sort of welding equipment or supply's I suggest you all take a look at these two company's.

Here is a Tig welder with Hi freq start for less than $400 bucks not a bad machine if you just want to weld steel and stainless.

I cant say I as impressed with there Mig welder prices plus I am partial to Miller welders.

congrats Dennis...three yrs ago I was going back and forth between the Everlast and the HTP, like you I couldn`t justify pay the price for a Miller or a Lincoln, I ended up buying the HTP, both are quality welders that fly under the radar so to speak, I like that the HTP lets me split my amperage when welding on ac, ....its a 221ac/dc up.... 200freq....pulse to 999 when on dc......water cooled.....a cart and flow meter for 2, 900.....http://www.usaweld.com/TIG-WELDER-Inver ... 12.5-2.htm

I looked for Http no wonder why I couldn't find that one! oh well I am happier with the Everlast it was cheaper welder and water cooler. and like I said its cheaper now than when I purchased it in the middle of October!
Took me a while to get it un-boxed and set up. Oh and order the water cooler as they sent me the welder with a water cooled Torch instead of the air cooled torch But I am glad it it happened that way i am into welding Aluminum more and more and you need the water cooler for Aluminum.

Dennis, does the Everlast let you go back and see what amps you were actually welding at, ? sorta like a tell-tale on a tachometer checking engine rpms. I always dial in more than what I need , but without someone there telling me what I`m actually using , I`d like to know

Never heard of a welder doing this? My Millers don't.
Unless your using Pulse function then its a Percentage of weld Amps to back ground amps depending on setting of the Pulse amps & the Pulse Time settings both change weld amps in there own way.

The following is from the manual available on line:
Amp Display :
Displays maximum selected amps until the weld is started. Displays actual amps while welding. Display may cycle rapidly and randomly after pulse has been turned on. This is normal. The meter “samples” the pulse at a fixed rate and is not synchronized with the pulse. Immediately after the pulse is turned on, a short delay is built in that prevents the display from cycling to allow the pulse to be adjusted. Once the adjustment is finished, pulse will begin to cycle after a few seconds if no input is made.

I don't know if that answers your question or not?

So It does display actual amps while welding and not the setting while welding but after the bead is completed? I don't think so every time I have turned around its what I have set it at. Could be if I turned around real fast I could see it but I have always just added or reduced Amp setting as required for the weld I am doing using the standard 1 amp per .001 of material being welded. being that most of my welding is done with a foot pedal its always just a percentage of what ever the Main amp gauge is set too so I never really worried about it as its supposed to be adjusted 25% higher than needed while using the Foot control.

The Pulse function of this machine are new to me and while I have a foggy understanding of its use and adjustment at the current time of writing this I am sure I will get a clearer understanding as I am able to play with the machine more in the coming weeks as I experiment with the Pulse function & settings. as both the "Pulse Amps control" and the "Pulse on time control" work together to control pulse current and time on or off of the arc further complicating the issue of weld current.
I am excited to learn and master these functions in the coming weeks as I get time to play with my new toy. I am curious how it compares to your HTP?

the pulse feature when on dc is amazing, so get yourself a bunch of scrap metal and paper pencil as you will need to write down the settings and results , as there will be to many to remember.... here`s an example as to how it works on the HTP....lets say I set the pulse to1.0 per second and set the welder to 100 amps, and peak time to 25 % and the background to 35 % and you hammer down on the pedal to full 100 amps, it will pulse once every second , with peak set at 25 %...that means 25 % of the 1 sec pulse will be at 100 amps and the remaining 3/4 of that sec which is the background current, it will be at the 35 % which would be 35 amps.....the combinations are amazing and hard to believe what is actually happening....like I said write down your settings and results.........and with the HTP I can split my amperage when on ac....I can have separate amperage on the positive side and the neg side as the machine cycles through the ac wave

You explained a lot better than I did lol but yes that's how mine works too.

I can't wait till I can weld two Razor blades like you posted a while back very impressive as were the cans. I could weld thin stuff with My Shopmaster but not that thin!

The operators Talent experience and mastery of the machine! ALL play a roll :worthy:

Ya I'm not liking it too much I like my old Miller pedal a lot more that's for sure!

NoRuns
What wireless pedals are speaking of?????????
I have wanted one of the Miller's for some time now, but last I checked they were still way out of my price range.
Just did a quicksee on Amazon yup Lincoln making one compatible with a bunch of machines but mines not listed I will have to contact them and Ever-last see If it can be made to work. Does anyone else make one?

Just found another killer deal on a cheap china made welder though

https://www.amazon.com/AHP-AlphaTIG-Sti ... QYH48RG5VA cant beat that deal dang! that's cheap! 200 Amps AC/DC with Pulse less than $700 wow!
The accessory's are a little different and the front panel is a little different but the box is identical to my New Ever-last at double the money, I would be a bit surprised if they were made in same place with same parts.
