Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I can’t seem to get a clear answer on this topic. I’m a beginner looking to spray my old Jeep. After doing some research, I’ve decided an LVLP gun is best for me due to my smaller compressor. I have a 25’ 3/8” hose. The inlet on the gun is 1/4”. I’ve read in a few places that a 1/4” fitting on the 3/8” hose is not enough air to spray properly. So why is there a 1/4” inlet on the gun then?
Again I apologize if this is a silly question.

If you run higher pressure (like 60 lbs) to the gun and regulate down
at the gun you won't have a problem. The bottleneck is the female quick disconnect fitting, look inside and you'll see the opening for the air is about half the diameter of the male fitting, which is also smaller than the 3/8" hose. I bought 3/8" fittings from Home Depot. they come as a kit for about $10.00. They screw right on a std. 3/8" hose fitting. The passage hole is about twice as big, it works way better. The std 1/4" is on the left, the 3/8" is on the right They both have std. 1/4" threads. JC.

Also, you can do this.
Make a connector with a pressure gage that you can attach to the gun. Keep upping the pressure till you get the PSI at the gun you want (with trigger pulled) then remove the assembly JC.
