Hey guys with the humidity Ive been getting lately I finally decided to bite the bullet and buy an ac air dryer (the ones that cool the lines down to condensate). My question is where in the system should i put it? Some say the closest to the booth but i feel like closer to the compressor is a better idea since that is when the airs saturated the most. Ill have the regular desiccant filters after it of course. any input would be appreciated. thanks.

No that Print shows the cooler 15-20 feet from the Compressor Then the plumbing is routed around the shop.
You need the 15-20 feet for the air too cool even before a refrigerated water trap.
Refrigerated cooler water traps are the cats Meow for cooling compressed air and Trapping water for painting but they still need to be placed 20 feet from the Compressor, the air is just too Hot when its too close too the compressor for water in the air to be cooled to allow the water in the air to condense even for a refrigerator cooler.

Ever use Hot water to make ice? no? why not? because cool water works faster.
Go feel your compressor when your running it hard that thing Is Boiling hot and the air coming out of it is Boiling hot too! Hot air cant cool down low enough to allow the water in the air to condense even for a refrigerated cooler. 20 feet of pipe after the compressor works to cool the air, Air gives up its heat quickly to metal piping, The Metal pipe acts as a Heat sink. After the air is cooled even a Simple 2nd Air Tank where the Air can briefly expand will allow it too cool enough to allow water to condense and be trapped which is all I have.

I use two separate Large diameter air tanks connected by a short piece of 1 inch pipe place 40 feet from my compressors that allows the air to expand Twice in succession this works like Gang busters cooling the air.
Its a Physics thing BUT it works great! My air is Dry super dry!
I never have problems with water in my air and I wouldn't waste my money on a refrigerated cooler either.

I doubt many have ever seen this effect! let alone experienced it! I have many times.
The aircraft Cabin has been pressurized usually by only a few pounds and then the guy blows the Emergency outflow valve this allows the air to Rapidly expand instantaneously resulting in a Major temperature drop evidenced by the Cloud of Moisture in the air.
This happens in your air compressor system every day all day long while its being used.
