Advice on Sata Jet 2000 digital

First post guys, I'll try not to sound stupid.
I'm an old school painter, painted 10yrs full time in the 70's and 80's, sprayed lots of Dupont, Ditzler, etc... and prob well over a hundred gallons of Imron. Cars, Planes, boats, heavy trucks, mostly with Binks 7's.
FF to today, out of the p&b business but still do some painting on personal projects. Have a 71 corvette about ready to spray with Inferno Orange metallic, maybe PPG or Dupont.

My question is about my paint gun. I have a Sata Jet 2000 digital hvlp, was a WSB gun but have complete new 1.4 and 1.5 kits for it. With the wsb I never could get a satisfactory spray pattern out of it, was striped or mottled. With a serious deep cleaning and the 1.5 setup I believe it has a good pattern now but I haven't sprayed any paint with it yet. I'm much more accustomed to SS paint and I've sprayed a few base clear jobs years ago. Should I be considering using this gun to spray base and clear on this car? Will it be ok with the newer paint products out now, or should I be looking for another gun? A lot of work (6yrs) has gone into the car at this point and I don't feel like having to re-do a bad paint job.

Any advice would be welcome.

Absolutely NOT! That gun is complete junk you need to ship it to me and I will take care of getting rid of it for you and you can buy one of those other $500+ guns to get the job done right!

Seriously though I have no idea what WSB stands for I am assuming water born paints ?
The Sata Jet 2000 was a good gun back a few years ago, It was one of there flag ships before the 3000 series. Heck I wouldn't mind having an old Sata Jet or a Sata Jet 90 myself.
I always wanted the 3000 RP till I heard it was very similar to the Devillbiss 670 Plus gun which I already have.

I just don't paint enough to warrant a $500+ gun myself or a Whole bunch that will just sit in my tool box either but perhaps one day I will invest in a Iwata Super Nova but not any time soon although I was just looking at some killer prices on Flea bay...

I was a late convert to HVLP, as I was only a 'serious hobbyist', not in the business. It does take some getting used to, to be able to shoot and ' out of the gun' good paint job, with HVLP. But eventually you will get the hang of it. Do some practice panels. Run the air pressure a bit higher than recommended in the beginning. Go a bit slower. If you could shoot a good job with your Binks, you'll get good with the Sata in time.

i still use a 2000, but i do recommend the 1.4 on a complete.

newer paint you say ?

what newer paint is that ?

sure there are some new clears and stuff but most basecoats remain the same

haha i think i got a few more since that pic was taken.

when we get slammed for deadlines i dont got time to change tips.

also when spraying all of General Motors new colors i load up about 8+ guns so i dont have to color change.

so yeah they are all mostly SATA RP anywhere from a 1.0 to 2.5 and multiples of most.

im not going to act like i paid for all those. but it is whats in the shop.

MY actual ownership is right at 14 guns. i just sold a few i was at 16.

i got a few guns set up for latex also. we spray everything.

Doright blue cap is a RP green is HVLP

RP will spray a lot faster and put out more paint and atomize better.
the thing on the back is a digital gauge. i think the control knob on 5000 suck balls so i use this for more precise adjustment
