Holy ****! I lost that bet! I put $10 that PD would have said the SataJet 100B!
BTW, I love mine that I use for sealers and primers.

thus, the third part of the question -- "or ???"

so, to reword the original question -- iwata w-400 1.8, DV Tekna primer 1.8, 2.0, Satajet 100 BF RP Primer Gun 1.6, OR ???

:allgood:

A lot can depend on the primer you're using.

For a lot of our work we use a fast primer and I have an Iwata Air Gunsa AZ3 1.8 that does this really well. Where I'm using high build I usually use a Star S4000 1.8 which has a wider fan and does a lovely even coat, coping very well with the heavier primer and, with a 2.5mm setup will also handle spray bog. For epoxy I use a Star 4000 1.4 which gives me a finish good enough for wet on wet and is also excellent when using acrylic primer. The Star guns are light (important when you have a big pot full of heavy primer) and very fast and easy to clean (important when you have to do this multiple times every day).

Of the guns mentioned the Devilbiss/Tekna PRi Pro Lite is probably technically the best choice, being purpose designed and built for the job. Downside is that it is more expensive and a bit more fiddly to clean. For twice the price is it that much better than the AZ3 or my Stars? No, I don't think so - the Star guns are equal in quality to the AZ3 and the 1.8 is over 10 years old, never having needed more than cleaning and an occasional smear of lube.

well, I zero'd in on an Iwata, W-400, Classic Plus, w/ the Bellaria 1.8. all in all, seemed to me, the best bang for the buck. it's a bit much for a "primer" gun, but I had a NOS, Binks M1-G that I just sold for a bit more, so, in reality, an even trade w/ change - :goodjob:
