I am looking for suggestions on what type of gun I can use to shoot some large flake, size .15 to .25. I'm thinking tip size should be 2.2 to 2.5. I'm looking for something inexpensive, Im only using it to paint a motorcycle fairing. I appreciate any recommendations in advance.

To be honest I'm not sure. I'm just learning to shoot flake , hence why I'm also looking for an inexpensive gun.

.025 flake is pretty **** big! Use a 2.2 tip

For standard size flake, I use a ANI with a 1.7 tip. Its a nice gun for the price.

I like to mix my flake sizes using a mix of .004 and .008 mixed in intercoat/clear basecoat or whatever you want to call it. Then hammer on the coats of clear - Watch your flash times!

PD is a SATA guy and probably has a few different ones for flake! (Yes that is the sound of jealousy!!!)

.25 is not a flake for a beginner in my opinion..... work up from the smaller sizes so you can get used to getting it buried in clear coat...... it's another one of those "learning curves" with this stuff.

try some HoK F series. it sparkles good and easier to cover with clear

Hey PD, do you notice a difference with the HOK flake in the way it lays down? being compared to a equal size of flake from a different source?

That is some pricey flake.
