I'm looking for advice ,thoughts on this paint gun. Seemingly missing the tip assembly, it could be $40 wasted or well spent?
As well, recommendations for a replacement tip size to compliment usage if it holds some value for automotive spray paint applications?
Any thought or feed back would be appreciated. Thanks.

That's a Pressure pot gun, The Info doesn't say what Fluid Tip it has and then you say it doesn't have a fluid tip.
I would stay away from it. If you already own it well you already know you need a fluid tip and some seals of and a Pressure cup or pot and Hose for it. Personally I have wanted one for whole car sprays but at same time I have found what I have works good enough. Dennis B.

Thanks for the reply Doright. No, it doesn't have a fluid tip. And while I guess I own it in the sense I gave buddy $40 for it, he was selling off all the crap his renter gave him to make rent. I could go back to him with it, but it doesn't sounds like a total waste of money? I do have a pressure cup from another gun, plus I thought Bink's is a popular name and I beat him down from the $80 he was asking hinging on as I told him, I really didn't need it, wasn't sure what a "fluid Tip" was worth to buy or if it was even still available? Not to mention what I had for cash. I'm the guy who works on his cars so I must really need this stuff? I'll start making calls to see what the market holds for parts and how much. Thanks again. |

Binks is a Good name Im sure the gun will work fine, as long as You get the right Fluid tip for it. You may want to check into if the Needles and Fluid tips are a matched set? like Other Hi dollar gun's.
I have no idea If the Needle sizes very with different size Fluid tips? but some Hi dollar guns do. There are other guys here who Know a lot more than I do about Binks guns. Dennis B.

I've made the call Saturday to get the ball rolling with a follow up Monday and I'm waiting to hear further on availability. I was a bit shocked to hear the price was a $100+ for a fluid tip assembly? As this unfolds I'll post results to the progress made. |

Turns out this gun, as I've since learned, it part of a high pressure system requiring a pump and such things I know little about or have no interest in involving myself with. As such, I'll try selling it off locally, or possible eBay? While I could get a fluid nozzel assembly, I'm told it won't work, or work well with air line pressure, and the cost of a fluid tip assemble at just over $100 doesn't seem worth me dropping a dime further on it. Live and learn.

If you don't mind a suggestion and a couple of questions ???
How much air compressor do you have? what is its CFM Rating? HP ratings are of little use unless its a Good brand name Motor such as Baldor or Westing house. Tank size helps 60 gal min Bigger is always better with the whole air compressor thing. A Good Air compressor is a Must have deal when Painting. After that you need a Good Water trap and filter, and Silica Media drier helps too. Projectponey has a Devilbiss Plus gun for sale they are good guns I use one myself. viewtopic.php?f=3&t=27010 If you were to get it or another one all you need is a 1.8 and a 1.4 Fluid tips and some new seals for it all readily available from Devilbiss. Think I paid 15 each maybe 20 each for extra fluid tips and Seals were cheap. You don't need multiple Guns to paint cars either, Just learn how to clean the gun properly between different Paints. The 670 Plus gun can and will lay Clear like Glass It will also lay down Base coats very well solids or Metallic's. There are many better guns out there but for the Money its not a bad deal. I would upgrade to a Better gun But for all the spraying I do these days why would I ? The ones I have spray good. If you do get one make sure you get plenty of Fluid needle Seals for it, That's the Devillbiss week point they like to leak right there at the Needle packing. I make my own out of a roll of Teflon Tape but the pre made ones are easier to use. The rest of the seals last a good while through many tear downs and cleanings. Dennis B.

Dennis, thank you. I'm playing catch up on things and will have to play catch up in the conversation at length another time. It wasn't the money that stopped me it was finding a Fluid tip and assemble. I'm not finding the parts to be available, as new as it looks, it's a 20 year old gun.
I didn't want to pay for should fit, might work. I can make my own sketchy. Looking over the parts break down and what buddy showed and explained to me, It may never spray a clear on a panel, but it could to be a fancy sprayer for my garden hose? Depends on my efforts I guess. $40 bucks...If didn't buy a gun and bought two extra large pizzas. Money's spent. As it is, I still have the gun. Still friends with the neighbor. I'll tell you know though, I could use more air. Never enough of that. |
