Well dave, how does it perform? Is it a game changer? Does it spray better than the 5000?

I also been meaning to ask you another question. I have a sata 5000 hvlp 1.7. That i got a good deal on for $250 brand new in the box. Will this be as good as the Sata 100 b hvlp 1.7 primer? I aleady have the 1.3 hvlp and the 1.2 rp sata for base and clear.

PD,

So now that you have used that 5500 for a while, do you find it better than your 5000s?

Also, X-mas came and went and no Sata in my stocking

D a m n!

Well having seen some of your other work, hearing that you can tell a difference sure gives that 5500 rig some credibility.

It cracks me up sometimes when folks bash the SATAs for being so expensive. Divide that ($750?, $800? maybe more?) money up by the hours its worked vs the price of materials these days? Doesn't seem that expensive to me. Every other year I am purchasing several $2k computers to run software that is now costing an arm and a leg with annual updates but they are tools.

If I were a pro, I'd be demoing one of those along with some of the other big boys guns.

Yeah u got a collection I have onlu 2 sata and a iwata. But I'm thinking on purchasing one two myself. But maybe a SATA primer gun 1st just trying to decide if worth spending 400 for a primer gun when the el cheapo do a decent job spraying it out..

Do you even use 1/4 of the guns u got u probaly still got a sata 1000

surprisingly i use them all, they range from tip sizes 1.0 to 2.5, ideally you would just buy different nozzle sets. i find it easier to just grab the gun i need and go. but i do a lot of different things, Automotive production, custom bikes, displays and exhibits, on a ton of different substrates, if i was only doing cars i probably wouldn't own so many guns.

SATA primer guns have a very good pattern made for priming but i don't recommend them because i have had nothing but trouble with the fan control knobs. you're fine with a cheap primer gun.
