I have a 27 inch sanding longboard.

It is rubber body and has a thin metal facing that adhesive paper sticks to.

IT has 3 rods to stiffen it as needed.

the metal facing was originally glued to the rubber body.

Works great BUT

the metal facing came off the rubber body, I've tried RTV, super glues, , cleaned the surfaces well before hand, nothing seems to hold the metal facing on after using it..

Any glues that work?

Fred,
You mentioned super glue.....have you ever tried a rubber toughened super glue? They are black in color. They take a regular medium thickness super glue and blend synthetic rubber when they make it. We use it off and on in furniture restoration. I have also repaired black convertible tops with it. It can flex like crazy but still hold.
This is just an example of one....

You should find Zap, Bob Smith Industries, K & R brands, etc., at your local hobby shops.

First I heard of that Darrel, thanks.

On the long board, which part is the glue not bonding to? When the parts separate the majority of the glue will be on one side or the other.

The best glue to use is contact cement.
You coat both surfaces with it and when dry you stick them together.
Once it touches it can't be repositioned.
Very water resistant too.
It's even sold in a spray can at the big box stores.
