I'm looking into buying a DeVilbiss Pro Lite, I'm not familiar with the optimal setup for the gun in my climate. That being humid, very hot and not very cold Winters. I was looking at purchasing the gun with 1.2 and 1.3 fluid tips and a TE20 cap and going from there. However with my climate I was wanting to consult with the experts as to whether or not this was ideal or if I should go with the 1.3 and 1.4 fluid tips. This isn't for production work, mainly custom finishes so Im not matching any peel or anything like that. Shooting for smooth finishes. This will be a base and clear gun.

Climate doesn't have a big effect on gun setup - more on the hardeners and thinners that you use.

If you want super smooth finishes then get the T110 aircap, not the TE20. 1.3mm is what I use usually although sometimes the 1.2mm. Starting point should be air pressure, at inlet, of 28psi, fluid turned out 2.5 - 3 turns from fully closed and fan all the way open then closed about 1/4 turn (can vary according to viscosity of paint used). As always, check spray pattern on paper before you even approach the job itself.

I think in the US we have TE20 and TE10 the TE110 fits but I do believe that is a GTI Pro lite cap and we would need to get it from a none US distributor.

Amazon has a great price on a cupped pro lite it is $489 with a TE10, TE20 and 1.2,1.3, and 1.4 mm tip. It also comes with a digital regulator.

The t110 is a Pro Lite cap - I know because I have two Pro Lite guns with T110 caps, one being 1.2mm and the other 1.3mm. There is a huge difference in the finish between this cap and the TE10 or TE20 but I can't use it on every job because I need to match factory peel.

That's a good deal on Amazon. If you buy the T110 separately be very careful not to get the Chinese knock-off variety. They are definitely NOT the same.

Just to reinforce what NFTS said : be very wary of "great deals" on ebay or on any used pro-lite anywhere. The Chinese have copied them down to the markings on the gun and they sell for peanuts ($90?). Obviously you are not buying a real DeVilbiss for that money.
I have a Prolite too - purchased for $400+ and hate to think what those cheap chinese fraud guns have done for the resale value of REAL prolites.

Be very careful on Amazon guns. I bought an Iwata from them as I KNEW it was going to be a knock off due to the price.

I bought it, contacted both Amazon and Iwata and neither one seemed to care. I was very surprised with their reactions.
