Is a 1.8mm suitable for most high build primers? I sprayed my truck with high build primer using a cheap gun with a 1.4 tip because that's what the paint spec sheet called for. That seemed small to me.

Spraygunsdirect shows the FLG5 can also accept a 2.0mm tip

Hmmm. I can only see the two options.

1.8mm is fine for high build. Won't work with polyester and may need a dash of reducer if it's particularly thick, but 1.8mm is what I use for high build and works well.

In the parts break down it shows a separate 2.0 tip and needle available to order.

I don't think I would ever need to spray anything that would need a 2.0. Just checking out all options before ordering.

Well there you go, I've learnt something new today and it's only 6am. :goodjob:

I use a 2.0mm Star or a 1.8mm Workquip gun for primer. Different guns but both work well in terms of tip size, the 1.8 probably a bit more suited to larger panels, but that may be the gun design more than the tip size.

Im going to order the FLG5 with 1.4 tip and extra tip and needle.

As mentioned above 1.8 will be good for high build. Should I get the 2.0mm instead? Order once, be done once...

I went ahead and ordered the FLG5 with 1.4 tip and a extra 1.8 needle and tip.

Can't wait for it to get here!

I got the gun last week. Shipping was fast. Cost an extra $44 customs and duty.

The finish is less refined than the FLG4 I had. The FLG4 was anodized blue. This gun is semi polished bare metal. There is still abrasive compound in the engraved lettering. Not the greatest quality control.. The fan and needle control knobs are not as nicely machined or smooth to turn as the FLG4.

Overall seems like a decent budget gun.

NFT5, thanks for the info and link for the FLG5 gun. I ordered it from the UK last Monday and it was here on Sat. Great price and quick shipping. No VAT when shipped to the US.
It’s noticeably better than my starting line guns.

Tracs, have you figured out where the blue washer that was inside the paint cup goes?
I don’t see it listed in the parts list.
