I currently have a 5 hp compressor, a cheapo HF gun and an Earlex 5500 turbine HVLP. Looking to upgrade and trying to decide if I should go with an LVLP or HTE There are lots of videos on comparing HVLP to LVLP and HVLP to HTE. But I couldn't find any comparing LVLP to HTE. Thoughts?

Quite a few threads on spray guns in this section.
Try a search for the particular guns you are considering. You need to know the CFM output of your compressor so as not to buy an incompatible spray gun. RP guns seem to be quite popular of late but I do not own one - yet! 1968 Coronet R/T

Thanks for the reply. I've found many threads about LVLP guns and HTE guns but I couldn't find any info on choosing between them. |

Just go with RP (=HTE).
Of the major gun brands only Iwata and Star have played with LVLP which says to me that the technology really isn't good enough to sell as a viable alternative for professionals. That also means that there is much more choice in the RP format and just about every gun that has achieved 'legendary' status is RP. In places where painters have a choice that choice is nearly always RP. Chris

Good point. Seems LVLP is focused on the under $100 market. RP it is. Now to decide on which RP. Too many choices!!! |
