Maybe not give away, but very close to it, and a reputable demonstrator. Wrey Schelin has been making metal shaping videos for a long time, and also has classes in his shop. Some metal workers don't like his techniques, but we are just talking about buying a tig welder here, and he does a pretty good demo on it. So take a look, maybe it will convince you to give it try. Its not for everybody, and it will cause more distortion than a mig, but I would choose tig over mig---10 to 1, and for $259 its worth a try. That's the price Wrey sells them for, as of March 2020. The other video is interesting also, and can help you get started. For that price it might make sense to have just to clean up your mig welds.

Don't have to see them, just the nature of the beast. I wouldn't dare show mine, but you can't really fault the mig welder, its made this work possible for a huge number of people.
I'm not proud of my tig welds either, but they clean up easier and quicker, and welding is a LOT quicker. |

That's cheaper than a Mig.
