I thought id at least be able to get one or two uses out of it before it bite the dust.. but I cant get the finish smooth, its showing lines...

So im going to get a better spray gun. Instead of reading reviews on the net and choosing one there I thought i'd ask y'all's opinion. Im looking for a gun that wont set me back 5-6 hundred dollars but isnt junk also.

Black Widow, DeVilbiss and Playtu have guns for around the hundred dollar range. I'd spend up to 3 hundred if necessary.

I have 0 painting experience with hvlp guns.

What size is your compressor?
What is the CFM output?
These questions will be the basis for what gun will work best. If you don't have enough air supply then a $600-700 gun isn't going to work any better than that $13 one.

Way too small. For a 1 man shop a 15cfm, 80gallon/ 5hp compressor would be the minimum I would recommend.

Tank size really doesn't matter its the Pump that matters.

The Tank is just a Shock absorber for the flow.
If your pump cant supply more air than your using your depending on the tank size to supply the tools required demand of air to do the work and eventually its depleted causing a pressure fluctuation.

I only have a 40 gal Tank BUT I have the Massive monster 50 CFM pump my tools run off the Pump not the Tank. I would like a Bigger Tank and may get one soon but I really don't need it I just want a Bigger Tank to reduce pump cycle time.

This is the reason tank size does matter. If your pump is running 100% of the time it will get pretty hot, thus producing more moisture and wearing out sooner. The tank allows some time for the pump to rest and cool IF it's big enough.

Jim
You are a 100% correct!
I just didnt want to get into all of the reasons but your 100% right,
Its the only reason you need a Bigger tank. The Tank needs to match the pump to have a Happy medium. My Tank is way to small for my Pump so it cycles often but doesn't run long unless I am running a big consumer such as my Blasting machine then as soon as I am done it shuts off.
I could play with the on off pressure settings but its set up pretty close to what it should be.
Having a Bigger tank would delay my kick on time and allow a longer time between cycles as I am working allowing the air to cool more allowing my water trap to trap more water.
