So I have acquired a donated compressor. The guy that gave it to me said it was in the families machine shop which he no long has. He said the Brand is Kellogg, but it has no ID tag tank, pump, or motor. The pump has the casting number: 17293. The tank is real clean inside and out. The color is similar to Champion Compressor's shade of green. The Kellogs I've seen online are all black. If it looks familiar let me know what you think it maybe. The motor runs but the pump needs works and I plan to rebuild as long as it makes money sense but first I have to identify what it really is. If he pump is shot, I will probably just put a New 5HP Eaton pump on it. Also, the sticker on the air filter / muffler says: Air Maze. So far from images and diagrams online, I think it is a Kellogg 331TV two stage pump.

Thanks ~ Lenny B

For $625 I don't think you could go wrong?

Pretty much what my conclusion is also. I researched and called a couple places that specialize in these older pumps. The one above that I have turns out to be a Kellogg-American 321 (2HP 8.8CFM at 600RPM) Would be a great quite unit but lacks the CFM needed. The tank is old but really clean inside and out. It's also a Kellogg-American 80 gallon, really thick compared with the box store units of today.

I like that 10HP Eaton but so far I'm finding the cost of a 10HP 240V single phase is very expensive (over $1,000 easy for the cheapest one). I think I'll research 5HP pumps since 5HP single phase 240V motors are more in the $400 range for a decent one. I think I'll part the Kellogg pump out on Ebay. It appears there are quit a few of these old US Made units out there still in service as well as guys restoring them as a hobby.
