I've would like a comparison from someone that has actually used both. I plan on painting a couple of vehicles of mine, probably with base / clear. The only painting I've done is a few panels and some chasis with a cheap HF gun. I do have a 2 stage 5 hp 80 gal. IR compressor. so air isn't a problem. I was looking at the FLG-4 but have read that the FLG-5 is a much better gun. As I know some of this can be base on personal preference or intended use. Just want to know which would be better for a novice and all around use. Thanks!

I've used both. The FLG5 is a full level above the FLG4.

I have and use a FLG4 Its not my Favorite gun.
I use it for a Primer gun Hi build, Feather fill, Slick sand mostly.

Its an OK gun it can and will shoot base and clear but given a choice as I have having multiple guns I don't use it for that.

I did an on line search and found and article that explained the hvlp and lvlp pros and cons, I decided the flg5 which is a lvlp gun is with two tips 14 and 18 is more verifiable and better suited for the projects I'll be doing,

Actually it's not LVLP, rather 'compliant' or high efficiency. If such a thing existed, you might call it MVMP. Regardless, it is the better gun.

Can you go back to your original post title and change the gun models from fgl to FLG? That way someone searching for information on these guns will be able to find this thread.

Ok, tried to change the title but it didn't work. I ordered the FGL-5 with the 1.4 tip and an extra 1.8 with needle.

NFT5... Just to say thanks for your input on the DeVibiss flg-5. I didn't even know the technology existed...I ordered one with the 1.4 and 1.8 tip...looks like a very versatile gun for the money....
