Names Guy...
New here, I've been working with autobody since around 82.. Started with dad really before that, he painted every vehicle he drove or flew... Been shooting and beating panels since!
My primary focus now is vintage aircraft. I'm in a new hangar and so new setup.
I've run 60' of 1" to my first stage of air drop/traps.
It's reduced to 1/2" at my filter manifold (all 1/2" arrow filters and desiccant dryer)
Last stage a 1/2" motor gaurd filter TP type, then reg....

I'm stuck on the hose.... I have a 50' 1/2" with 1/2" npt nips, but I'd like to drop to a 25 or 50' 1/2 hose with 1/2 supply nip and a 3/8 nip for the gun end coupler.... probably going to have to get it custom swaged...

Id seriously like a light weight anti static Chem resistant super flexible line for my last section. What do you guys like for this application?

I'm leaning heavily towards the prevost 3/8" euro high flow ciupler for the gun connection.
Questions, criticisms, or advice appreciated...

Hey Guy
Welcome to the forum!

Out of my compressor I run a Min of 20' before my first water trap, actually I run a Longer section my self but the minimum they say is 20' This allows the air too cool so the water will separate and condense on the cooler pipe in theory where it can be trapped in a water trap.
Some do the first 20 feet horizontal some do it vertical it doesn't really matter except that you have a way to drain the water.

After you design a good water trap I would run an air filter of some sort and just plumb out the shop as you see fit. running it at a slight angle around the shop allows water to follow gravity to other water drains at an end run. I have these but never see water come out of them.

For any painting run the air through another set of filters preferably a 3 stage set up from Binks or Devillbis or the like, as long as it has a water, oil, and a Desiccant Drier stages.

Oh and by the way I too would like a light weight anti static Chem resistant super flexible line for my last section in my paint booth too!
I have seen them there not cheap, way more than most here are willing to spend on an air hose. Places where I see them used a lot? At the Major Airlines for Tank Diving.

I have no idea why you wanna run huge 1/2'' air hose are you doing a lot with 1/2 inch drive and 3/4'' drive stuff ?

I prefer 3/8 myself lighter
I do have a couple 1/2'' drops to run my 3/4 and 1'' air impact but I only use them once every few years.

Check out this web sight for hose

They have some fair deals but I was not impressed with most of there wares myself.
I used 1 inch Black pipe for almost my whole system with just the taps limiting the airflow depending on use of Hi flow fittings or normal size air hose fittings.

I'll be doing alot of painting.... I need solid volume in order to shoot large panels (wings) I'm running 1/2 hose all the way to a high flow 3/8 coupler at the gun... I'm looking for a lightweight Chem resistant hose for in the booth 30-50'...
I've been using that water trap system for more than 20 years... Works well.

I really like Flexzilla air hoses. They remain flexible and are very easy to control while maneuvering about the booth, climbing ladders or contorting to reach difficult spots.

Yeah, we have been using the Flexzilla lines since they were introduced. I have them in several lengths..... I've got on our roofs with them. Very easy to maneuver.
