Hi, I am totally new to any of the paint job.
Could I use "California Air Tools 8010 Steel Tank Air Compressor, Oil-Free, 1.0 hp, 8 gals,120psi" to do a DIY bumper paint job?

I am not expecting a show car effect, a very normal looking will be all good to me~

Thanks for any suggestions.

No, he was exaggerating, but not by much.

That compressor is rated 3.1CFM at 40psi which would give you a bit more, maybe 4.5CFM
at about 20psi. Very few guns can operate with so little air so you'd be limited to maybe a 0.8mm gun which is way less than ideal.

Those compressors are perfect if you don't want to annoy the neighbours and they do come in bigger sizes, in fact I recently bought one which pumps out 17CFM. Find a quality, brand name gun that will work on relatively low air supplies and then buy a compressor that has 20-30% more capacity than the gun needs.

Air CFM is everything! Your pump needs to be able to put out more than you use when painting. Or any other tool in the shop! Other wise you'll have pressure fluctuation's, And thats the last thing you want when painting!
Using a compressor that is too small Is the number one cause for New painters painting failures.

There are so many cheap air tools and Paint guns on the market that are air hogs with Misleading claims on air consumption watch out! To make matters worse the Air compressor market is NO different! Plenty of Misleading claims by dealers and MFG about Air compressors abilities.

In my opinion you need more Air capacity Pump CFM than your biggest air CFM hungry tool in the shop! In my shop that would be my Blasters, Sanders & Die Grinders.
Your Air compressor is the heart of your shop Its Your Main tool that does the most work.
It needs o be up to the Task or it will run constantly Getting Hot really Hot! Heat is the Killer of Air compressors!.
If your Pump is running constantly its gonna burn up you want it to cycle on & off preferably off longer than its on.

Buy the Biggest Baddest compressor you can afford, This is a true case of Bigger is better!
