Hi Guys, it has been a couple of years since I last painted a car so I'm trying to bring myself back up to speed, I have a DeVilbiss FLG-G5 gun with a 1.8 and 1.4 nozzle/needles and that wants 35psi at the gun with trigger pulled. Soon I'll be spraying the first coats of PPG CRE-X21 epoxy primer.
Reading through the spec sheets I see that for HVLP guns like mine they want a 1.3-1.6 needle/nozzle so in my case that is the 1.4 1.4 for thick epoxy primer?
I'm sure PPG knows more than me but I have just never heard of using such a fine needle for primer.
They also want 10psi at the cap, is there a calculation I need to do to find if I'm reaching or even exceeding 10psi?

I use a 1.4 tip for epoxy, base and clear.

2.0 for 2k build and polyester primers. (Used a 1.8 for years for 2k build primer with no issues.)

10 psi at the cap is pretty much standard. There should be a CFM and PSI requirement for your spray gun to get the cap pressure.

Looks like 11 CFM (volume of air) at 35 PSI (pressure with trigger pulled full open) is what you need.
