I'm getting ready to paint and see that boron carbide and tungsten carbide blasting nozzles are the longest lasting, and some of them have venturi's in them, which add a lot to the price. Is the venturi useful? I think one salesman said that it spread the sand out onto a bigger pattern than what the straight-bore nozzles do. I think he also said that it increased the power of the media. Made it more economical. Would be interested in what some of you think about a venturi. Thanks

I have a Carbide nozzle in my blast cabinet, I know what your talking about with the Jets inserts they have.
Its my understanding that you have to have the correct style of gun to use them.
Also the small Jet actually controls the air flow not the Media. Media would eat the small jet.
These types of guns are called suction type as they suck the media up into the gun.
Being able to control the airflow is a good idea especially if you don't have a very very large compressor.
