BUT a limit of 6 starts per hour? not good.

The Motor is spinning at 3450 rpm, They are spinning that little pump really fast to make those number's don't expect this pump to last very long. Hi rpm is a Band aid to get big cfm numbers from a small pump not a good practice in Air compressor world Pump life is sacraficed.
I see some conflicting info on that review: the responder claims 3450 rpm but on the Dewlalt site they say 767 rpm. that makes more sense to me considering it is a 2 stage:

DXCMV5076055 - Specifications
Tank Size: 60 Gallon.

Maximum Pressure:175 PSI.

SCFM @ 175 PSI: 13.5.

SCFM @ 100 PSI: 15.3.

Pump RPM: 767.

Voltage: 230 Volt.

Phase: Single.

Running HP: 5.0.

I think I could live with it being 60 gal but the limit of 6 starts/hr. might be an issue. Having never used a "bigger" compressor, how often do they run to recharge? I know it depends on what is being used but, say the average spray gun? Dumb question likely.

It depends on where you have it set at.
I try to keep 100 PSI minimum, so it can drop 75 PSI before starting. This is where tank size comes into play. More volume of air to draw from before the pressure drops to start level.

Think of it as packing something into a container. The more pressure you apply, the more stuff you can get in there and the longer it takes to empty the container.

The 3450 RPM came from other info in the questions and answered section on the web sight It was a question already asked on the web sight.
The Pump RPM may well be as stated 767 rpm slowed down by the pulleys used.
Not all that uncommon, I also would consider a pump RPM of 800 or less to be acceptable but 600 or so would be better.

As I said before this is not a bad compressor, depending on use and needs.
Could you paint a car with it? Yes.
Will it run a DA sander? Yes.
Will it run Air drills? yes.
Will it run a Hi speed Di Grinder? Yes.
Most certainly yes to all the above.
Will it big enough for your needs? I have no idea!

Would it last in my Shop? Not a chance!
I would burn this thing up in short order over working it.

It may be worth noting that Dewalt doesnt even list this model any more.

But they do have this one I don't know what the price difference is though.
Looks like the exact same pump

Notice in the specs on that compressor that the CFM at 90 PSI is only .3 CFM higher at 40 PSI.
A lot of the cheaper compressors will pretend that the CFM jumps up considerably at the lower pressure setting.

Makes you wonder if compressor numbers aren't more about mythology than spec.s.....
