Hi Guys,

Have my eye on a Quincy 2 stage 80 gal #251CP80VCB I've heard good things about them and the numbers sound good for what I would do in the conceivable future:

Specifications

HP: 5
Phase: 1
Volts: 230
Unit Style: Simplex
Tank Configuration: Vertical
Tank Size (Gallons): 80
ACFM @175 PSIG: 17.2

Thoughts??

I've always like Quincy compressors. I think the only things that have changed with them over the years is the use of more off shore parts in their construction. That is the case with almost any compressor made now.... So, the spec.s look pretty good on that. That thing is probably putting out more like 20 to 22 cfm at 100 psi. Is this a new one or a used one? Got a link to it or pic. of it.....
Hey, took a few minutes and looked that up. If you are considering new you should look at Eaton.... This is their competing model WITH the Quiet Air system....

I ended up purchasing the Polar Air by Eaton PES07V080V1 7.5HP V4 Single Phase 80-Gallon Vertical Air Compressor for just a bit more than that one listed.

Just setup the forms earlier today, and hope to pour the slab tomorrow if the rain lets up.

Hopefully this compressor will outlive me!

Yeah, that is the one I have.... you wll love it. Things are quiet and efficient. Seen some of the lowest electric bills ever. Runs cool and quiet. They even have a newer synthetic oil that runs about 10 db quieter in opertion for these models.

Well, I finally got my new Eaton Polar Bear Compressor installed and hooked up.

It is quite a bit larger than both of the old units so I built a new outdoor enclosure for it. I don't have any photos of the completed enclosure but it matches the rest of the garage.

Had to run a new 60 amp circuit over to it which is no big deal as that garage has open studs inside. I did run a new contactor (relay) with a 6 hour rotary timer near the man-door. I also installed an auto drain, so hopefully no tank rust issues in the future.

Used the RapidAir FastPipe on the inside to make a radiator prior to the water trap/regulator. I have some auto-drains on order that will be installed at each drop.

I really like the stuff, it is a bit pricey but it works awesome. No leaks on the blue pipe.

I do have two small leaks that I need to address but one is an old union that I didn't expect to work and the other is an off-shore (I didn't want to say Chinese crap) Stainless nipple. Shouldn't take me too long to get those corrected.

Haven't really had a chance to use the new compressor, but I am expecting it to make me a better painter than Painter Dave!!

Man, you are going to love this setup when you start using it. That auto drain will easily keep the bottom of that tank clean.

Just curious, is an auto drain any better than just opening the valve manually after every use, assuming you remember to do it? Not saying I remember every time so maybe an auto drain is the way to go after all--LOL!
