In another thread I kind of got a Man threads off topic and I apologize.
But He brought up watching videos on how to calculate his Air compressors CFM so I went looking for these vids see what they were about how they were doing it.
Oh I found a few but never did watch them as I really wasn't all that interested in the subject But did get me off topic when I saw a video titled "Air compressor Tank explosion'

This subject to me is kinda fascinating because Air compressors are considered LOW pressure vessels. After looking into this a Bit more Google and you tube have a great many pic and Vids of this phenomenon.

I have never given this much thought, I always thought a Tank just started leaking from pin hole rust.
Cant say more about using auto drains and Staying away from Old compressors.
I will be thinking twice about recommending Used compressors any more.
I am in the Market for a New Tank lol

I am surprised this topic didn't generate any conversation?
I for one cannot afford the possibility of this happening to me in my shop. I got My compressor used and do not know anything about the tank, It could be 20+ years old now I do not know? I am sure I could find some identifying stamp on it some place but I have wanted a Larger Tank and Motor for some time any way. Good time for an upgrade on both. Maybe go ahead and do a Valve job on my Pump in the process as well. I found a web sight offering new Tanks the one I am looking at has options for Galvanizing the inside of the tank and or Powder coating the inside of the Tank or BOTH. It adds a Lot to the cost but shipping is free. Price with no options: https://www.compressorworld.com/steelfa ... 10034.html Price with Galvanizing and Powder coating: https://www.compressorworld.com/steelfa ... 10034.html Yes this easily exceeds the price of what almost every one has, But they have a lot of tank size options I for one am looking for a Very large Tank minimum of 120 gal and I think a 200 gal would be better for my Pump. What do you guys think? Dennis B.
