Hi Guys,
I have been using these for my respirator: 3M Multi Gas/Vapor Cartridge/Filter 60926, P100 Respiratory Protection Is this the best for shooting base/clear or is there better? I change them regularly and am only in my little booth less than 5 min. at a time for bike parts but, want to keep breathing down the line. Thoughts?
Thanks!!
Proper Mask Filters??

O.K. cool, I'll see if they will fit my 3 M mask--looks like it would. If not, a mask is not much $$. Thanks!! |
I have been using the Sundstrom half face mask for years but the soft rubber seal deteriorates eventually. I went in to buy a new one recently and they told me that they'd stopped carrying them because of the deterioration problem. Pity, they fit my face really well.
So, I bought the 3M one. It seems that our Standards are different to yours so you probably won't be able to get this one, but I did find a page on the 3M website where you can enter in details of your hazard(s) and it will recommend suitable PPE. https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/respiratory-protection-us/support/center-for-respiratory-protection/?utm_medium=redirect&utm_source=vanity-url&utm_campaign=www.3m.com/Respiratory/ Generally, 3M follow the same (industry) colour coding so the activated carbon filter will be black/brown and the particulate filter white. I've always used a dust filter in the front as well which stops the particulate filter clogging up. The organic vapour you need protection from is Hexamethylene diisocyanate. Chris

I had the same problem as above. I try to use silicon respirators as they don't seem to come apart like the rubber based ones. 3M 7502 is one. You can put whatever filter you want on it as this is just the base.

I use the pre-filters with the cartridges. Being white, they give you a good idea of when it's time to change the filter.
Most of the cartridges rated for Isocyanates recommend changing them out after 8 hours of use. One variable to be considered is the airflow and filtration in your spray booth. You don't want the "cloud" hanging around your head, you want it heading out immediately. 1968 Coronet R/T

Which is the right cartridge? |
You need the ones rated for Organic Vapors. https://www.votechsafety.net/techs/site ... L_DoPH.pdf 1968 Coronet R/T

I've been using the 3M Rugged Comfort Quick Latch 6503QL for the last couple of years. It is quite comfortable. And this is a pretty good deal for them... https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IF7RCU6/ref=crt_ewc_title_dp_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER For the actual filters, like others have said make sure that it says that it is for Organic Vapors, 3M has quite a few different P/Ns. Sent by the random thoughts from the voices in my head...
