I am Not sure what the Yellow Arrow is pointing at or what it would be used for?
Orange Arrow is pointing at Media drain, Mine just uses a spring loaded closed trap door. Makes changing media super easy. As far as how to plumb it from your other post again I am not sure on yours with out looking at it in person. or better pics with more arrows pointing at connections with different colors would help a lot. On side note its just a Blast cabinet and they all pretty much work the same. Mine is plumbed with foot control air pressure regulator and multiple door safety sensors to allow air flow. That's a really nice Blast cabinet Original vacuum/ dust collector that one may have been disconnected by some one removing it from the shop OR it may have been bad? your gonna want to plumb it like it is in your drawing pics and use both motors if one is bad replace it! keeping dust down in these things is a challenge. My Vacuum dust collector has a Heavy Bag that is reusable and does become clogged up with dust keeping it clean helps keep dust down in the cabinet and manageable. I remove mine dump dust and burned up media then wash with water inside and out then reinstall when dust gets bad and its hard to see.. As far as Air pressure yes I have a regulator on mine although I pretty much have it cranked all the way up so it sees shop air pressure (max unregulated) what ever my compressor puts out, Glass bead is far less aggressive than your 80 grit so I can get away with that. If your gonna use that 80 grit stuff in the cabinet your gonna want to be able to dial the pressure down so as not to damage stuff at least to 90 psi and probably lower. Here your gonna want a HI FLOW air pressure regulator as Blasters are a lot like a Paint guns and require large amounts of air flow not pressure. When you put media in it do not add stupid amounts to hopper! DO NOT OVER FILL!!! A lot of guys think FILL IT UP when LESS is Better!!!!!! All these machines use the vacuum technique to get media into gun Over fill hopper and you can have problems!!!! Not to mention switching media can be a real pain. I never use more than a 40lb bag/box of glass bead at a time, It comes in a box that is a little bigger than 12"x 12" x 12" I never add more! I will use it till its burned up then dump it and start with fresh. Last few times I bought the stuff I got it at Harbor fright for $40-$50 for 40lb-50 lb box, Prices fluctuate and I try to buy it when they have their sidewalk sales. Dennis B.

Did you figure it out? did you get it working? Dennis B.

Dennis, thanks for asking. I believe I have most of it figured out. Just been busy with work, life and a three-day weekend. Took it apart for a good cleaning (photos are from before it was cleaned!!) and found how they ran the air lines. The red hose going into the cabinet is for the media blast gun and the black one is for an blow off gun. The unit is missing the air inlet filter - I think that I have an extra 1" regulator/water trap that I can use. In figure 1 above the "Pilot-Operated Pressure Regulator" is also missing but I don't think that I will need that with my regulator/water trap that I already have laying around. The previous owner disconnected the factory exhaust fan that I "assume" is supposed to have some type of filter bag attached to it. I need to temp in the wires and check to see if the existing motor is good or if it needs replacing. I am going to get a new bag for the Cyclone aux unit also.
The hinged door (red arrows) needs a little tweaking or a new piano hinge. It looks to be a media fill hopper that has a cheap pleated air filter in it. I guess that you are supposed to take out the pleated filter prior to filling the hopper, but the side access doors are plenty big. Sent by the random thoughts from the voices in my head...

The yellow arrows point to some air passage that I am not sure what they are for. I need to do a little more "Google" research.
I do want to obtain new lights and relocate them to the top of the cabinet. I will also get a new window mounting system with some of the replaceable protective film. Sent by the random thoughts from the voices in my head...

beings how the dust collector is going to be pullin a few cfms out of the cabinet, any chance those are fresh air intakes?
to find out, you can turn on the dust collector and put a little smoke makin devise by the openings. |
I went to use mine yesterday and found it very hard to see while blasting. Took my fan/filter assembly out and the filter was so full of fine dust that it probably weighed 5 lbs.
After repeatedly tapping it on a piece of wood, laying on the ground outside. I finally got it to the place were I could finish cleaning it with compressed air. Put it all back together and when I turned it on my gloves stood straight out due to the increased vacuum. I can see again. 1968 Coronet R/T

Jim: Yes amazing how you don't realize how bad the vacuum gets till you clean it lol Dennis B.
