Just an observation and suggestions of your system.

1. loose quick disconnect on your regulator, Screw a dedicated air hose strait into the regulator and use a dedicated air hose for Painting. Eliminate all unnecessary flow restrictions by reducing connections fittings using a Dedicated air hose eliminates possible contamination issues.

I have that as I use two different hoses, one is pretty beat up and covered with stuff from shooting high builds or the FFG2. The other one I keep a lot cleaner and use for the stuff that I really care about, BC and Clears.

I use just use one hose, I clean it with a rag dipped in laq thinner.
Loosing the quick disconnects helps with flow, fewer restrictions.
The smallest fitting in my system is the hi flow quick disconnect at the end of my hose at my gun. Added plus to bolting it strait to regulator is that your hose cant easily be used else wear in your shop which could allow it to become contaminated by unfiltered air.

I'm closing in on being done setting this up, will post pics once completed for a good laugh, anyway.... a couple of questions:

1) Do I need to capture the bit of water that will come out of the drains and the auto-drain on the compressor? I suspect this is a try it and see question and is based on the air situation in the shop, etc... but generally speaking... should I expect just a small amount of water that can just hit the floor and dry?

2) Do I need the pressure regulator coming off the QC3? There is already one at the compressor, one at the Pneumatics Plus filter, and one at my spray gun?

3) Do I need the shutoff valve in front of the QC3? I already have a quick disconnect to take the compressor out of the system and can let the air out of the drain if I need to de-pressurize and change the QC3 filter. It just makes the whole setup wider and I'm cramped for space.

Thanks!
Brad

Too many Regulators.

I can see the use of two one on compressor to control 90 psi out put through out shop and another after Qc3 drier for paint booth and that's it. each will limit air flow and that's bad. also keep in mind NOT all regulators are Hi flow regulators! Painting requires very hi cfm flow requirements that not all Regulators are capable of.

I do not have one at all on my compressor outlet at all, My manifold is plumbed open system unregulated through out my shop to my filter bank and and my one and only regulator after my DAD500 filter bank and drier assembly with a Hi flo Regulator specifically for Painting.
Yes I have a Ball valve in front of my filter bank and drier assembly that I shut off when I am not painting so my Drier doesn't try to dry entire system from the inlet. a Desiccant drier will try to do that and the media would get saturated leaving it worthless.

In my case If I have a tool that absolutely needs regulated air for a Tap off my manifold such as my Glass bead cabinet I have one on its inlet dedicated for that air Tap only.
For my Impact and Air drills Die grinders and such they are run off of full unregulated manifold pressure unregulated and have never had a problem.

Now my Nail guns and Air Staple guns they get regulated air pressure and here again I use a regulator that I just plug into the manifold with quick disconnect fittings as necessary to dial down pressure and can move it around shop were its needed.

Some Air tools will not like unregulated air pressure so like I said using a regulator I can move around and just plug in as required is beneficial for me others may have different opinions, just what works for me.

Shouldn't, I never have but I live in Northern California. See what you get, worst thing would be to add a tube that drains outside later if you don't like the wet spots your compressor leaves.

Didn't your QC3 come with a regulator? It should have. Open the air valve all the way at your gun and use the QC3's regulator to set your gun pressure. You can always tune it down just a bit at the gun when you are shooting.

3) Do I need the shutoff valve in front of the QC3? I already have a quick disconnect to take the compressor out of the system and can let the air out of the drain if I need to de-pressurize and change the QC3 filter. It just makes the whole setup wider and I'm cramped for space.

Yes for the reason explained by Dennis.
