hello everyone,
I got a question about heating a detached garage / shop. the shop is roughly 30x30x10. Here in TN it gets pretty cold, we don't plan to spray during the worst of the winter months (Jan-Feb), but would like the option to spray when it's around 40 degrees or so. We are looking for heating options right now. We don't have the shop partitioned or anything so would likely just heat the whole area and spray. What do you guys suggest we use to try to heat the area enough to spray? Trying to keep things within reason ($$$), so please keep that in mind.
I really appreciate your help!

Do you plan to have any ventilation while spraying? If not you are looking at a serious potential fire hazard and having ISOs lingering for a long time in the shop.
Have you considered hanging plastic or something to form area to paint in? 1968 Coronet R/T

Yes, we fully intend to have a couple of windows and/or garage door open while spraying for ventilation.
Would something like this work? Schwank Commercial Radiant Infrarer Heater System with Radiant Infrarer 3 inch line |
I'd use this with some sort of barrel fan with the garage door cracked a couple of feet. Or a kerosene fired similar model.....like a 250,000 btu. Get ready to cut and buff.

I just don't want to be blowing any more dust than necessary....

Do you wanna cut and buff or redo complete cause the cure failed? Wet the floor.

heat for my unit comes from a homemade waste oil burner.... google babington waste oil burners.
not good for painting though. |

I never have the heater running while Im spraying. Heat everything up first, then turn the heat off before you tack off the car and spray.

This is what I'm thinking is what will need to happen. In that case, just about anything will work for heat, right? (electric, propane, NG, etc...) |
