So Reuters is reporting that Dupont is in talks to sell off it's automotive finishes division ( technologies, manufacturing plants etc.) probably to some venture capital firm that will break it apart. Any of you Dupont guys have a comment?

as long as they dont change the actual paint chemistry itself i'm ok with it. Typical big business. Probably not making a big enough profit share there for the stock holders so bye bye it goes. P.S. my local napa after three months still has not bothered to try to get my biz with your paints. Such a shame.

That's just it- the "chemistry" will be sold off to a competitor and not necessarily duplicated...what're you Dupont guys gonna switch to? and why? FYI, I sold Dupont when I managed a CARQUEST PBE store and really liked Chroma clear....not much luck selling Nason though. Sorry to here about your local NAPA store. Like I posted before there are some NAPA stores that just are not interested enough in the PBE biz to pursue it... it's too bad.

3 to 4 BILLION $$ is the number i have been told. They have really dropped the ball in the waterbase market by having hit or miss color matches and delam issues.

A gazillion dollars in marketing (Jeff Gordon????) and a lot of mid-level management is what I heard...
