Are you referring to hourly rates or the actual hours?

Hourly rates.... Example my shop charges $58 body and paint and the average is $55 but the insurance will only pay $48 and even cuts the book time.

Down here we get $40

THATS one of the reasons I quit working at the big body shops..................................

Charge the customer. After all you are fixing the car for them not the insurance company. The insurance is obligated to indemnify the vehicle owner not the shop.

I know that before your car goes to any body shop your insurance company either sends out an estimator or if the car is drivable they will have you come to their office for an estimator then they tell you to go to the shop of your choice then you call your insurance broker and tell them the shops name then the shop will deal directly with your insurance for rates and so on .least that's how we do it in Canada . I work for a shop and we do insurance jobs just don't ask for dealership parts the insurance companies prefer we use jobber parts they cost less but are about the same
