Are you using this to replace compressed air for spraying? Please explain for the novice!

Awe bob :( lol

I run my compressed air through a air dryer. Then desicant to the nitrogen generator and there it gets filtered again through a 8,000 dollar membrane filter where all the impurities in air are filtered out and turned into nitrogen. It also heats my air to 180 degrees and lowers my paint viscosity and reduces my flash times. Improves transfer efficiency too.

Basically I'm spoiled lol.

Is there some advantage to using nitrogen?
After all, the air we breathe is like over 70% nitrogen already.

the air we breathe is clean. The compressed air is dirty and full of oil and and other junk from the compressor. The nitrogen is just cleaner and more stable air than the compressed air. Benefits are cleaner paint jobs. Faster flash times.

I get the air heating benefits and the additional filtering would ensure almost perfectly clean air so that's a plus too.

What I don't get is how this machine can turn impurities into nitrogen. Alchemy is a myth in any practical sense.

I'm also not sure why heating and purifying air wouldn't do exactly the same thing. The atomic structures of nitrogen and oxygen are very similar and boiling points are just a few degrees different (-183C vs -195C) so evaporation shouldn't be significantly different, especially at the temperatures that you're spraying at. Surely, for the same reasons transfer efficiency should also be about the same (allowing for the improvement from pre-heating, which would certainly make a difference).

Not saying it doesn't and I have no experience with nitrogen. Just trying to understand the chemistry behind their claims.

yeah im no chemist either, but through whatever process it does it removes the oxygen and impurities from the compressed air. and yes you can heat paint for lower viscosity but good luck spraying a few gallons of paint while it stays warm
