Han,

I have a quick question for you. Why would I have to contact aqmd about looking to what kind of paint booths I should look into. The reason I ask is you gave me info about aqmd and it's more about regulations and restrictions pertaining to air quality management. Wouldn't the ccity plannnig and development take care of this matter? I'm just confused Han and you seem to be the right person to help me. Thanks again.

Not about the "type" of booth but the permits for it. The company that
will install the booth should give you the run down. My area is saturated
with bodyshops (SanFernando Valley), people and schools. I had to mail
out over 2500+ notices to the parents of an elementary school nearby
and residences. There was ONE concerned parent that responded
and that delayed the permit, as AQMD had to "investigate" her concern.
What's funny is that there are 3 bodyshops even closer to that school
and 2 of them have NO booth. From what i gather, a booth is not even a requirement.
But a permit is necessary for one. My booth was inspected
by a city rep (checked electrical) , the fire department and AQMD (the rep
checked out the entire shop). And i think there was one more...

Again, the company that'll be installing your booth should be familar
with the rules/regs of your area. I just don't want you to go through
the hasle i did...
A man can do all things if he but wills them.
