anyone have any experience in this field? Im wanting to go into it because I'm tired of the body shop and would rather be out making runs, associating with other people, ect. I know most insurance places want college grads, but not sure what degree they are looking for. Im halfway done with a bachelors in business and i dropped out of the autobody program but only five classes away from a degree (which would only take a year to do). anyone have any advice, or tips in to getting my foot in the door early maybe as an intership/training?

I only have hands-on experience (4+ years). Ask your college instructor for advice on this one. Different insurers have different requirements, so
it seems...

Progressive Insurance seem to use VERY inexperienced field appraisers...

It's a thankless job, really. But i do know an independent adjuster
that does well for himself (25+ years). Most of the old timers are
good to deal with for me. However, they're generally burnt out
after so many years... Seeing that, i wouldn't recommend it.

Whatever it is you decide to do, be sincere and proactive.
