So, had this problem a few times now, i get carried away and put my clear coat on just a tad heavy or I paint a corner edge and then the flat face and end up with a run at the edge.
Sanding the run down leaves a nice flat surface, but the rest of the panel has an orange peel effect, so subsequent buffing makes the flat section stand out amongst the orange peel area, is there a trick to sanding away the run without making the area stand out.

No way to get the peel back once gone without respraying.
Only option now is gradually sanding and buffing more to taper it out into a larger area. JC.

Bummer,
So if i wish to retain orange peel effect (easier than sanding the whole car back to glass smooth), is this process correct sand the runs out scuff sand the adjacent area around it with a maroon or gold scuff pad?, throw some more 2k clear onto that area (do i need blending thinners, the clear is less than a week old, currently one day) Buff area to remove any overspray or visible blend lines Steve |

I think to get it right you'll have to clear the entire panel.
But if you're really good with clear coat blends you could get away with it. This is one that separates the amateurs from the pro's. JC.
