Hi Guys,

Just wanted to thank all those that gave me advise on a 2 tone job. I think it turned out nice and I was able to eliminate just about all of the ridge line between colors.

Looks too nice, I don't believe that is your first two tone job!

From now on, please tell the truth. And....try to post some photos of the assembled bikes.

Everyone loves motorcycles!

LOL! I did have a lot of time into it. I was spraying clear at 1:30 am yesterday to get it done. I haven't taken it out into bright sun but it looks pretty under the fluorescent's. Everyone says they will send me pics of it all together but, so far I have only received 2.

Update........ the owner was very happy with the results and ran it for a few months. Unfortunately, the tank sprang a leak and as expected, the black lower portion started to bubble. He took it to a welder and tigg'd it up. We both agree that since it is fairly thin metal, the welder likely had the amperage set pretty low so there might not be a whole lot of penetration. I don't think I should grind it down and the owner agrees. I said the best I could do was to try and smooth out the area with filler and make it as nice as possible but he realizes that there will be a "lump" in that area and he is fine with it.

He doesn't want (nor does it need) the gold portion to be touched. My plan is to do the filler, sand to the transition line. If that goes well then I will tape/paper and shoot the black then re-clear the whole tank (after sanding to 800 on the gold). I think it will look acceptable and I have seen the tank on the bike and the area to be repaired (visually) kind of disappears into the engine area so from a foot away, it will look good. Also, the black has more peel in it than I am happy with anyway. Thoughts?

Tank is Junk inside and out from Morning dew effect welding was waist of time repaint is also it will spring another leak soon.

To avoid this tell them to always keep tanks full and always add fuel stabilizer= water eliminators (alcohol)

Running premium gasoline also helps since it has additives.
I had my signature car parked in a storage lot in Colorado for a couple of years. In fact, the car cover disintegrated and was gone when I went to get it.
Hooked up the jumper cables and had 5 gallons of gas in a can just in case.
I was shocked when it fired right up after a couple of attempts. Drove it around the lot and onto the flatbed trailer for the ride home.
