Today I was workin on a tailgate for an older work truck, i finished it in epoxy/sealer Friday so I scuffed it with 600. I wanted to try my new 3m accuspray HG14 with a 1.4 atomizing head, but the forced air into the cup was too much pressure for thin viscosity material like basecoat. It started leaking paint from the PPS liner/lid. Round 2 was with the regular old accuspray, but I could not find the sweet spot between air pressure and material flow. It either sucked way too much paint out or dry sprayed terrible. (Spraying cheap SW 4th dimension silver). Anybody with similar experience? Tips, tricks, for next time appreciated.
I ended up wet sanding the base with 600 again to get the drops of paint and horrible dry spray off. I resorted back to metal frame/cup gun for round 3. Started with a wet-bed of thinned and tinted clear followed by 2 more coats of base and a few coats of clear. Turned out good in the end.
