I have used Nason Clear 497-00 with great results....

I usually use ChromaPremier Clears, but sometimes on economy jobs because it is a quarter the price, I use Nason.

I have watched a few jobs for 2 or more years, and they seem to be standing up great.

I use a Devilbiss 'Plus' gun.

think we figured it out,
took activator and clear back to supplier and they said that the shelf life had expired and gave me credit back on my 3M buffing supplies (perfect-it 1 qt. rubbing, polish, and glaze/2 wool pads and 2 foam) came out to 169.76 in credit and the clear was only 76.00 with activator. so i cant complain a little extra work but they made it right with me. he thought the activator was still good but he said it was the only thing it could be. and after color sanding and buffing the hood i have to say it came out **** good.

thanks for all of the help guys

I use nason clear all the time 498-00 with a 483-79 2k high temp activator I get great really shiny jobs with it ! when its really hot I may even cut it with some 441-21 reducer just a little to help thin it out some ! sounds like you are using to much tip for this clear ! I do how ever use a iwata supernova 1.3 tip have found even with my devilbiss gti pro I always use a 1.3 tip I know its a expensive gun but sounds like you have done this before so if you are spending 300 dollars a gallon on paint and couple hundred on clear ! and another couple hundred on sand paper primer lacquer thinner ! only makes sense that a gun is really a good investment ! I don do this for a living just my stuff but like any other tool you get what you pay for and also will last you alife time if you clean it good ! here is a couple photos of me just messing around with reducer on my chevy bumper !
