Hello everyone first post here. Never painted anything before, but I am a quick learner.
I started to sand my fender for a GM black respray . As you can see the fender is red. It was actually spray painted black, but I sanded it down with 180 grit and am now at this point. The fender is straight with no body work needed. Is this ready for primer or do i need to take it down to bare plastic? To be completely honest, I have no idea what a decent prep for primer should look like, but this is where I’m at. Any tips will be greatly appreciated! |

After 180 grit, it is ready for primer.
Some like to sand up to 320 but if you use a good 2K urethane primer, 180 scratches are no problem. Just guide coat your primer and sand to 600 before paint. JC.
