Hi Everyone,

I had the unfortunate experience of being hit on Christmas Eve. The guy hit me on the passenger bumper and then scratched the rear drivers door and a small scratch on the drivers side door. The shop replaced the rear bumper and painted both quarter panels, bumper and drivers side both doors. They where suppose to blend there passanger side quarter panel no drivers door.

Am I being to picky or is this job subpar??

It's hard to tell from the pictures. I'm assuming you are not happy with the color match.

First, that pearl white is tough and is most likely a tri-stage (two components of base color, then clear coat). No excuse though, it should come out right.

Second, even from the factory bumpers are not always a good color match so you might give them some slack on a minor variation for the bumper. Look at a new car on a dealer lot and see if you can see what I'm talking about.

Third, if you are seeing a color value difference between the door and the quarter, then they did not blend - they "panel painted".

My saying is this,
"if you can tell that it's been fixed, then it's not fixed"
I have done the entire side of several cars just to get the paint to match,
or at least look like it matches.
Sometimes it can be challenging. Depends on what the shop
is willing to do to get it right. Most won't.
This is why I get so much business, and I'm just a "hobbyist" (LOL)

:goodpost: ^^ well said, and yes if you can see its not right then its not. like JC I would have done the complete side if needed, but when the customer came to pick it up it would be perfect. that's what reputations are built on.

Looks like a Pearl white color?
Pearl's are gonna be hard to get a 100% match without painting the whole thing for anyone.

At the very least, you have to blend into a large area.
I would never use a paint shop that would paint all the way up to the next panel
without blending into the next one. that's poor workmanship.

Truth is that the insurance probably only paid for that. Check your estimate and see if there's any blend time on it. You can post it and we can help you.

A shop should always blend pearls, but I am working with a shop now that's panel painting 3 pearls this week (one is a redo). I think these are customer pay or rental car work. Being the paint rep it's my job to tint these to a blendable match.
