OK, I got ordered and received the paint to shoot my dragster but I am a little confused. I wanted to go with HOK products but they did not offer a Wimbledon white premixed so I went with another brand offered by TPI. The white basecoat is urethane basecoat which it says to mix 2 parts with one part reducer. The black for the stripe that I ordered is single stage acrylic urethane which it says to mix with hardner but says nothing about reducer. I do not understand why both paints are not mixed with both hardner and reducer. I would like some guidance on this before I screw up a lot of work.

The white is just a base coat the Single stage is Base coat AND Clear coat already mixed together.

The Base coat just needs to be thinned down with the Reducer to shoot it although I would add a little of what ever Clear activator with it that you plan to use when mixing.

The Single stage has already been thinned down with a Reducer for a lack of a better argument or explanation and Mixed with a Clear already so it doesn't need a Clear coat spayed over it Like a Base coat does to be shinny and protected from the elements.
But you do have to add & mix the Activator with it or it will never dry and get hard.

Just checking, but you do know that you have to cover that BC (basecoat) with a clear coat.

What is TPI? Are all of your products from the same company?

You can spray your BC/CC, wait then stripe with the BC later.

Or just spray the BC, wait for the tape window to start, tape off your stripe, shoot your SS black, then clear the whole thing, since SS is like colored CC.

Make sure to read your tech sheets for proper substrates, flash times etc.

I don't think that you can shoot BC over non-dried SS, but I am a rookie weekend hack, your local jobber where you got the paint and these guys on this forum know a LOT more than I do.

Good luck, cant wait to see the progress.
