Im replacing rockers on an 2000 silverado, with the lay over style. is it bad to put filler over partially welded seams? i dont feel its necessary to fully weld them. but can this cause issues with the filler over time?
i tried to search but all i get is people wanting to put it over seam sealer. im saying just stitch weld the seam and put the filler right over that.

I'm thinking its going to shrink up over time and you will see a line were you didn't weld. so why not weld it complete your right their with the welder? pictures ?

If you don't want to weld them, why not use panel adhesive?
Less chance of moisture getting in behind there and rusting the metal. Be sure to remove all the rust that is there first or you will be looking a major trouble down the road. 1968 Coronet R/T

its not that i dont want to weld them, its just alot more welding/grinding for some rocker panels. im not really worried if i see a little line, this is my personal vehicle.
i guess i didnt mean to answer my own question lol. i ended up plug welding every 2" ill just fill it with some short strand and call it good. |

plug welds look nice. I would grind them smooth then run a bead of seam sealer along the edge if you want and paint.
