I need to repaint the trim on the lower end of my car (see picture, not my actual vehicle). The trim runs along the wheel arch and below the doors from bumper to bumper. On the curved portion above the wheels, how would you recommend taping off the trim from the body paint?

I feel like using general straight tape will be extremely difficult if not impossible to get a clean "circle shape" and will result in a more hexagon type curve over the wheels if you look closely.

Advice? Thank you.

Use any good quality 1/4" tape initially, then tape to that
with regular tape for masking.
JC.

(It's not custom painting-it's custom sanding)

Yep, what he said. That is a pretty big radius so the 1/4" shouldn't be a problem.

Use two hands, one to hold the roll out ahead and try to keep it flat and close to your panel, smoothing it with your other hand (finger) as you go. Don't look at the roll look ahead of what you are taping.

Use a good vinyl tape like the blue 3M stuff or an FBS product.

Then use IC to seal your edges.
