I just sprayed 4 parts with Finish1 single stage. Came out good minus several fisheyes per part. Filled in mostly with subsequent coats, but will need minor corrections and a respray.
My question is about clear and single stage. I have heard of some people mixing single stage into a coat of clear, and following with 2 coats of straight clear. Is this a good Idea? I will be using Finish1 clear as well.
How long do you wait after the last application of the straight single stage before you start with the clear?

mixing clear with solid color won't do anything. but if you mix a metallic color at varying amounts you get a little deeper look, sometimes. it doesn't take to much color, I would start with a couple oz. to a quart. there are a lot of variables to this, color, type of paint, mixture, and application. its really more a seat of the pants thing, you have to experiment.

Bob, just single stage and let flash like you would clear, then two coat over that.

yes, just put your clear right over the single stage.
I've done that many times. If your single stage is metallic, it's best to let it dry 3 hrs or more before clearing so it doesn't disturb the metallic. Some wait overnight to clear over it. JC.
