Hoping there is someone familiar with PPG's base coats. The color I need is available in their Shopline JB, JBP and their Global lines. The cost is great between the different lines. A gallon of JB is $230, JBP is $300, and their premium line "Global" is $800. It's not available in their Deltron line. The job is a complete repray, no color matching needed. Just wondering if the higher dollar paint is worth the extra cost. I have shot their Deltron and loved it, except for the cost. I'm afraid the cheaper JB will be like water and I'll end up spending just as much, since more gallons may be needed. The guy behind the counter said the higher dollar paints are generally thicker but he also said I won't be able to tell the differance after the clear is on. If your familiar with these brands, your advice is much appreciated.

Thanks in advance ~ Lenny B

Try getting a quote on Automotive Art Motobase LV.

Email the paint code to: chad sperry <[email protected]> and ask for a quote shipped to your door.

I quit overpaying for PPG a long time ago.

Yeah, PPG has about priced itself off the face of the earth for the hobbyist. And Shopline... never again, it should not take 5 or 6 to coats to achieve hiding and they can't make it the same color twice in row.... What Coronet said there plus Chris here might be able to get Tamco in some bases for you. He was very competitive when I checked last......

Since you are painting the entire car, you can get away with the Shopline or Shopline Plus since you aren't trying to match a color. You should go with a better clear, like DCU 2021 or DC 4000. That is where you get the better uv protection and longevity out of the paint job.
