I'm using Restoration Shop Acrylic Urethane single stage for my Camaro project. The instructions call for a 4:1 mix of paint the hardener, but I'm having a bit of trouble getting a smooth coat. Not dry, but not good flow-out. I've heard that a 10% addition of reducer could help with this. My mixing cups have a 4:1:1/2 scale. I'm sure the 4:1 is a 25% reduction, but would the extra 1/2 be 12% or due to the 4:1 actually be 10%.

Lots of variables here. I eyeball my ratios most of the time and things turn out for me. The 10% suggestion is more of “up to 10%” reducer. Are you using the correct temp reducers for your conditions? What gun are you using? What is your gun/compressor setup? And what is your spraying technique? What does the tech sheet say about reducers?

Not enough difference between 10% and 12% to worry about.
The 10% is for the final mix, with activator.
If the total paint and activator added up to 15 ounces then
the 10% reducer would be 1.5 ounces.
But a little more like 12% wouldn't hurt anything.
