Hey all,

I really dont know much about paint repair but I have a superficial scratch on a brand new bike and Im looking for advice.

So its a very thin scratch, like a hair, that can be seen with direct light. Its on a tank that has black matte finish. Someone adviced me to use a soft clay bar and lube to remove it but Id like to her other advice / opinions.

Many thanks in advance and I will be very grateful for any comments.

A clay bar isn't going to remove a scratch, and there's a very good probability you'll create a shiny spot if you rub it with anything. You will have to either try to ignore the scratch, or have the bike repainted. Those are really the only two options with a matte finish.

If you decide to repaint it anyway, you have nothing to loose by trying different
things, then try a 4000 grit Abralon pad on it first,
If that's still to aggressive find a higher grit sandpaper and go to that.
There's some really high grits out there, if you find the right grit you
may be able to make it look right.
Go to fine and it will be shiney, the 4000 Abralon leaves a good flat finish.
Just a thought

(It's not custom painting-it's custom sanding)
