Ouch!, I thought that I was the only one sanding everything off that I put on.

I guess that is what you would call "a learning event"?

Oh yeah! I have never used metal prep again after that. It's still sitting in my cabinet.

What was interesting is you could see the film it created on both the metal surface and the back of the paint chips. No question about what caused the failure.

:flatten: I use the stuff like Hot sauce, on everything. And from experience discovered, not removed forms a pretty good crust and dust/chalky surface substrate. A re application, further scrub and warm water rinse proved effective in removal? So, is this a product or an applicator issue? If it's the former rather then the latter I'm in big trouble. I've included it in my prepping procedure and let me tell you, I've sprayed and scrubbed lots.

Sorry I have been away. Thanks for all the replies. To wrap this up, this is not an issue of 10+ years old paint reacting with newer paint products, right? This is just bad prep or insufficient time between coats to allow each coat to dry, right?
