Hi everyone,

I recently attempted to do some touch up work on my engine bay, and some paint got into a gap in some body paneling that is hard to reach and was not properly cleaned and prepped. I was wondering if this could have an effect to promote rust in the area as there is now some dirt/dust trapped against the factory paint?

As I mentioned, it is very difficult to reach the area in question otherwise I would just clean in up no questions.

Probably not, unless the dirt was wet.

That said, you really must clean completely before painting. Use high pressure water, a brush or whatever you have to use to get it absolutely clean. As I keep having to remind my offsider "Paint doesn't stick to dirt".
