Last weekend I shot the car in high-build primer. It has sat for a week and I'm going to do the seam sealer. I masked all the joints and then realized that I didn't scuff or use wax and grease remover.
The car has a fresh coat of primer and has been sitting in the booth. Am I good to seam seal or do I still need to scuff & clean?
Thanks,
Sal

Generally, I shoot epoxy and the next day apply the seam sealer.
I would read the tech sheet on your seam sealer as to proper surface preparation as there are a few different brands and techniques. 1968 Coronet R/T

Good point!
I'm using 3M Fast 'n Firm 08505... All it says is to apply over paint or primer and clean if necessary. So I suppose I'm OK since there should be no need to clean since the primer just went down. Thanks! |

are you going to use it on the exterior part of the body. the Fast and Firm is a relative low grade seam sealer great for use on inner panels. I like a 2 part or single urethane for outside seams.

It is exterior... quarter panels to rocker, tail panel and rear filler panel.
I had been using 3M 08367 Urethane seam sealer all around but ran out and couldn't find it locally. Fast 'n' Firm is all they had nearby. Maybe I'll order some of the Urethane and wait on it. Doh... Thanks, Sal |
