Just bought a truck with hail damage. Only damage I am repairing is the roof and I will be replacing the hood. Rest of the body isn’t bad. The roof has a mixture of dents. Does t have to be perfect since it’s the roof it won’t really be visible but the edges have a few area with the paint missing. My plan is to glue pull and maybe buy a stud welder for the edges that have thicker metal. Any idea what filler I should use? I am gonna have macco prime and paint roof and hood. Wanna keep as much of the original body paint as I can. Would the dents be too deep for 3m glaze?

PDR - Paintless Dent Repair.
Talk to a local technician or two. You might be surprised at how economical it can be. Chris

Pdr around here is about 100 an hour. Way too many dents on the roof and there are a few areas with missing paint so it will need to be painted anyways

Since it's a truck, maybe you can remove the headliner fairly easily?
Then you could do simple hammer and dolly work by reaching around the door openings. I wouldn't use glazing putty at least at first. Use a good quality body filler such as Rage Gold or your choice. Remember the birds will see your work... "If you can't move it, paint it." - U.S. Army

I'd fill what I could see with a good filler then cover the entire area with
a good polyester primer, it'll take care of the small ones you miss. You can shine a flashlight over the surface at night just skimming the surface and it will show up the ones you don't see. I mark them with a pencil and then sand each spot for a little filler. JC.
